SWIM LESSONS FOR BABIES, YOUTH, ADULTS AND SENIORS

The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of swimming lessons including instruction for all levels from tots, to teens, to adults, in addition to specialized classes such as Aqua Aerobics, Pre/Postnatal Aqua and Aqua Bootcamp. NEW! Private and Semi-Private Swim Prices:
Private/Semi-private Lesson: All private swim lessons are 30 minutes long. The class is structured around what the client would like; if the participant is new to swim we will start with the basics, or if the participant is advanced then we will work on perfecting strokes. Some benefits of private swim lessons are small class size, participant advances faster and being able to schedule the lesson around your personal schedule.
Private (1 child to 1 instructor) ....................................$20/hour
Semi-Private (2-3 children to 1instructor) ......$15/hour per child

 

PRE/POSTNATAL AQUA
This class is designed for individuals seeking low impact cardio including soon to be and new mommies! If you want to stay in shape during your pregnancy or get back in shape after you deliver, this is the class for you. This 45-minute aqua aerobics class is a fun and safe way to achieve your goals, and to meet new mommies just like
you! AH

 

AQUA AEROBICS
Aquatic exercise is one of the most effective and safe ways to get yourself in shape. With rhythmic music in the background, an instructor will stand on deck and demonstrate various arm, leg and core exercises that can be performed by individuals of all levels of fitness. AH

 

AQUA BOOTCAMP
In Aqua Bootcamp you will use the full length of the pool to run, cycle and continually move through the water for a cardio blast. We will count push-ups off the deck and perform jumping jacks to increase muscle, without a harsh impact on joints. This workout is a great cross-trainer for runners and cyclists, and a challenge for all!

DIAPER DIVERS
This is a parent-child class that will go through the exploration of water. This class uses songs and games to introduce the child to the fundamentals of swimming. The child will learn the skills of blowing
bubbles, kicking, arm movements, floating, and going under water! AH

 

LEVEL 1 SWIM LESSONS
In level 1, your child will learn how to independently float on his/her back and front, fully submerge head, kick, and arm movements of the front and back crawl. Child must be at least 3.5 to register for level 1 swim lessons. AH


LEVEL 2 SWIM LESSONS

In level 2, your child will learn the front crawl (freestyle), back stroke and will be able to perform both for 15 yards independently. Your child will also learn skills such as, fining and sculling, front and back glides, treading water, and the jellyfish float! Prerequisites: Child must be able to float independently for five seconds on his/her front
and back. Child also needs to be familiar with arm and leg movements of the front and back crawls. AH

LEVEL 3 SWIM LESSONS
Level 3 focuses on perfecting the skills learned in level 2, by putting emphasis on the front and back crawl strokes. Your child will also be introduced to rotary breathing, elementary backstroke, and the butterfly and breast stroke kicks. Prerequisites: Child must be able to swim 15 yards independently using the front crawl and 15 yards
independently using the back crawl. AH

LEVEL 4-6 SWIM LESSONS
In level 4, your child will be swimming the full length of the pool (25 yards) using their front and back crawls. Your child will also learn new skills such as, the breaststroke, butterfly, side stroke, open turns and flip turns. As the child progresses through the level, the distances will start becoming longer until the child is able to swim
100 yards. Prerequisites: Child must be able to swim the full length of the pool (25 yards) on his/her front and back and must be familiar with rotary breathing. AH
